Paving roads during the blistering heat of summer is no easy task. Tackling the necessity of night projects requires even more dedication and endurance. However, Ronnie Stark, the steadfast leadman on the Watt team, embraced this challenge during a recent night job in Oxford, Mississippi. He demonstrated relentless leadership through excellence and teamwork. Those who worked with him on this job agreed that he consistently supported not just one team, but two on the project site, never wavering in his commitment.
Foreman Daniel Barajas, who worked alongside Ronnie and submitted him for this spotlight, shared his thoughts: “Ronnie was a huge help and a key factor for my crew and me to get Oxford Square milled and prepped in 3 short nights. From Sunday night, he asked me countless times what he could do to help, and I told him we had it handled for the time being. He took it upon himself to pull up a small dump truck and pick up any piles the mill was leaving.”
Daniel continued, “Tuesday night was the cherry on top. While the other team had their paving operations going, he would come by and pick up any small piles he saw from time to time and help in tight spaces where no other machine could reach. I can truly say that we wouldn’t have been able to complete that job within the timeframe we did if it weren’t for Ronnie. Great work ethic, and a super nice, friendly coworker!”

Vice President Jeremy Ramberg praised Ronnie’s above-and-beyond actions: “This is a testament to Ronnie’s humility. We talk about the willingness to ‘Sweep the Floors’ and that we should not be above any job or task, and Ronnie lives by that value. He didn’t have to help a teammate out, but he did. Ronnie is a valued member of the team, and his actions speak louder than words.”
Levester “Duke” Watt, Foreman, who has worked alongside Ronnie for many years, remarked: “To me, Ronnie is the kind of person that will do whatever you ask of him. He makes sure that everybody gets what they need for the job every day and that it’s done right at the end of the day. He is our go-to guy for everything.”
