Asphalt plant foremen play a crucial role in supporting our daily operations, serving as a component of overall team success. The role requires a strong ability to balance and multitask, as it involves overseeing safety protocols at the site, plant maintenance, customer relationships, and daily production tasks to ensure our projects stay on track. With this in mind, we are excited to announce John Whipple’s promotion to Foreman of Plant 5.
With more than 23 years of experience with our team, John showcases a strong track record of leadership, dedication, and hands-on expertise. Through his exceptional work ethic, John has steadily advanced in his career. He started his career at Lehman-Roberts, A Granite Company, working as a plant groundman and equipment operator. In fact, John is regarded as a master of equipment operation and regularly uses his skills to train new operators.
Don Fletcher, Vice President of Manufacturing and Quality Control, perfectly described the leadership style of John by sharing, “John represents a stewardship mentality, but along with that are the other core values we strive for. All of them are rolled into who John Whipple is as a person. From going to the plant after hours to check in to helping truck drivers when they break down, he is just selfless.”
However, good leadership also works hand in hand with a safety mindset. Howard Green, Superintendent of Asphalt Plants, went on to add, “John watches out for the rest of his crew, continually leading daily huddle-ups. His crew is always watching each other’s backs and coaching each other… they learned that from him.”
Blake Kimbrough, Assistant Superintendent, who has worked with John for many years, closed with, “Any time we need someone to step up, John does just that. And that is exactly how he is in every aspect of being a Foreman.”
John’s years of dedication and hard work continue to pay off, and we are excited to see what the road ahead holds as he continues to grow and lead within our organization!
