Blueprint for Excellence: Jesus “Blue” Linan

As a traffic control flagger on the Jones crew, Blue has earned a reputation for being dependable, hardworking and consistently willing to lend a hand wherever it’s needed. Whether he’s setting up traffic control before the workday begins or supporting the crew throughout the day, Blue approaches every task with a positive attitude and a commitment to doing the job right.

Nominated by his co-worker Marco Linan, Blue’s work ethic was praised: “I think Blue is an outstanding employee due to his work ethic. He is always at work early, sometimes arriving an hour before our morning safety huddle. He is one of the most dependable crew members and is known to help with anything he is asked to do, no questions asked.”

Blue’s willingness to go above and beyond has not gone unnoticed by his teammates and supervisors. Those who work alongside him describe someone who can be counted on day in and day out, regardless of the task at hand.

Superintendent Preston Bryson echoed Marco’s sentiments: “Blue has excelled in traffic control and has learned how to effectively start each day. He’s a hard worker, and he always has a smile on his face.”

One theme came up repeatedly when speaking with Blue’s colleagues: his positive attitude. In an industry where early mornings, long days, and changing conditions are part of the job, Blue is known for bringing energy and optimism to the team. His upbeat mindset and willingness to help others contribute to a positive work environment and set an example for those around him.

Greg Ketchum, assistant superintendent, added: “Blue is very dependable. He always arrives prepared to work. When he’s not managing traffic control, he’s assisting with the paver. He’s an all-around good team member.”

Blue’s versatility is another quality that makes him such a valuable member of the crew. While traffic control is his primary responsibility, he’s always ready to step in wherever support is needed, helping the team maintain productivity and keep work moving forward.

Foreman Tethion Jones works closely with Blue every day and has witnessed firsthand the commitment he brings to the crew. He shared: “Blue arrives at the job site early to set up traffic control, and he’s usually the last one to leave. He gets along really well with the rest of the team.”

The respect Blue has earned from his teammates is a reflection of the effort, reliability and positive attitude he brings to work each day.
