From the Roller to Retirement: John Caulfield

After a remarkable twenty-five years with Lehman Roberts, A Granite Company, Roller Operator John Caulfield is officially retiring. Affectionately known as “John John” to his team members, he leaves behind a legacy defined by hard work and a contagious positive attitude. As a roller operator, he played a vital role on every job site, skillfully creating smooth and durable surfaces.

John Caulfield, Roller Operator

General Superintendent JJ Riles praised John for both his incredible skills and the steady, positive presence he brought to every job site. JJ noted that no matter the circumstances, John approached each day with a great attitude and a willingness to support the crew in any way he could.

“John always had a smile on his face,” JJ shared. “He was truly a great breakdown roller operator and also occasionally served as our back roller operator. He would always be helping any member of the team when he wasn’t on his roller.” That kind of reliability and teamwork made a lasting impression on everyone who worked alongside him.

John’s willingness to go above and beyond never went unnoticed by the rest of the team. Paving Foreman Hunter Franklin shared his admiration for John and the dedication he showed day in and day out. “He showed up to every job site with a smile and an unmatched work ethic, always willing to step up and handle whatever needed to be done to get the job completed the right way,” Hunter noted. John could always be counted on to do things right, and his example helped set the tone for the entire crew.

For many, John was much more than just a coworker. He was a trusted teammate and a friend. Assistant Superintendent Woody Franklin reflected on their long history working together and the impact John made over the years. “I had the pleasure of working with John Caulfield for 25 years of his career here with Lehman-Roberts as a friend and coworker,” he shared. “John was always a pleasure to work around. He knew his job well and always did whatever it took to get the job done.”

He closed by adding, “You could always find him with a smile on his face and making the people around him laugh. He will be missed, and we wish him nothing but the best in this new chapter of his life.”

John’s expertise, strong work ethic, and joyful presence will be deeply missed on the job. We are grateful for the many years he dedicated to the team and the example he set for those around him. We wish John nothing but the absolute best as he begins this exciting new chapter of his life!
