2017 TDOT Civil Rights Bridge Builder Award

Each year, Civil Rights Division of TDOT hosts the DBE Small Business Meeting in Nashville.  The focus of the event is to forge relationships between Tennessee contractors and smaller, minority and woman-owned businesses. Additionally, there are a variety of educational opportunities, panel discussions and a marketplace and exhibitor showcase.

During every meeting, the Civil Rights Division recognizes those who have demonstrated the essence of what it takes to build collaborative relationships that exemplify the division’s mission. Those awards are presented to an individual TDOT employee, a DBE company and a prime contractor. For the second year in a row, Lehman-Roberts Company was honored with the Bridge Builder Award as a prime contractor.

David Reeves, our Director of HR, has attended the meeting and participated in an advisory role for several years. David remarked, “We were as honored as we were surprised to receive the award for back-to-back years.  While we reach out to minority subcontractors because of our commitment to our core values, it is also nice to receive this kind of recognition from TDOT.”
