Lehman-Roberts Co. Recognized by National Asphalt Pavement Association

MEMPHIS, Tenn., February 27, 2017 – Lehman-Roberts Co., a leader in the highway paving, construction and aggregate industry, was honored at the National Asphalt Pavement Association’s (NAPA) 62nd Annual Meeting in Orlando earlier this month. Rick Moore, chairman of Lehman-Roberts Co. and immediate past chairman of the association’s World of Asphalt Committee, was recognized by NAPA as Man of the Year. Additionally, the company was presented with two 2016 Quality in Construction Awards, as well as the 2016 NAPA Diamond Achievement Commendation.

“We are both honored and humbled to be recognized by the caliber of our work,” said Pat Nelson, president of Lehman-Roberts Co. “We are also extremely proud to have Rick, recognized for his outstanding contributions and efforts to improve our industry over the years. Our team looks forward to continuing to meet the challenging standards of the asphalt pavement industry.”

The association praised Moore for his efforts to grow the World of Asphalt Show & Conference, as well as strengthening NAPA’s partnerships for the show with the National Sand, Stone, and Gravel Association (NSSGA) and the Association of Equipment Manufacturers.

“Under Rick’s watchful eye, World of Asphalt has grown steadily to become the premiere destination for the global asphalt pavement industry to come see and feel the latest innovations from equipment manufacturers and service providers,” said Kevin Kelly, 2016 NAPA Chairman, who presented the award. “With his guidance and support, educational opportunities have expanded significantly at World of Asphalt, improving the value of the event and strengthening the skill-base of the industry worldwide.”

Moore has served as chairman of NAPA’s World of Asphalt Committee since 2006. In that time, NAPA reports, he has been instrumental in leading the show to becoming nearly three times larger in exhibit space and more than three times larger in educational session attendance. He also oversaw work with NSSGA to co-locate its AGG1 exhibition with World of Asphalt.

Lehman-Roberts Co. also earned two 2016 Quality in Construction awards for its work on Highway 305 in Olive Branch, Miss., as well as Highway 78 in DeSoto County, Miss., from Highway 305 to Bethel Road. Additionally, Lehman-Roberts’ Plant 10 earned NAPA’s 2016 Diamond Achievement Commendation for excellence in asphalt plant/site operations.

“The goal of every paving contractor is to build a high-quality road — a road that meets and exceeds stringent performance requirements,” said Kelly. “Earning a Quality in Construction Award shows a strong commitment to excellence from a contractor who measures their project against industry best practices. In earning this Quality in Construction Award, Lehman-Roberts Co. has constructed a safe, quiet, smooth asphalt pavement.”
