Identifying, locating and purchasing necessary parts and materials for repair of mining and paving equipment.
How did you get into this career, and what led you to this company?
My uncle helped me get a summer job at Grenada Sand and Gravel in 1972. That location became our Batesville operation when Lehman-Roberts Co. purchased them in 1982. After working in Batesville for 5 years, I was fortunate a job opened in the Memphis shop in 1988 and I’ve been here since.
What is your favorite part about working at Lehman-Roberts Co./Memphis Stone & Gravel Co.?
The people I get to interact with on a daily basis, be it fellow employees or vendors, as well as the challenges that can arise with being able to locate parts or materials that can get a machine up and going with minimal down time.
How have the company’s core values and overall culture impacted your role or inspired passion in what you do?
I believe our Core Values have always existed, but just weren’t clearly defined. That happened for me with the advent of TPR. Seeing how wasteful we, as a company, had been prior to TPR was eye-opening.
What is the best piece of advice you have received during your career?
Be patient and stay the course.
What do you enjoy doing in your free time?
I have rediscovered a joy for exercise and trying to be more fit. I also love golf, but I don’t play nearly as much as I would like.
