The U.S. has not had a highway authorization bill since September 30, 2009, instead, we are now working off the ninth extension, which is set to expire in the next few weeks. Lehman-Roberts Co. and Memphis Stone & Gravel Co.’s leadership actively participate in the legislative process, and as part of that invited our Congressman, Honorable Steve Cohen to tour some of our facilities. On June 14, 2012, Representative Cohen spent the afternoon learning more about where our local aggregates are produced and how they are used to produce hot mix asphalt, which is used on local projects such as Veterans Parkway, Highway 385, and the new I-269, which is currently under construction. With partners like Congressman Cohen, we are working to build infrastructure that improves the lives of our community.
Representative Cohen teaches Vice President Alan Parks a thing or two about geology.
